Beta Gauging

Basis weight gauging by use of beta emitting radioactive source e.g. Kr85 or Sr90 and detection by a photomultiplier. The equipment is mainly used for traversing scanner devices. Beta gauging can also be used as a thickness scanner in homogeneous materials where density is well known, such as PVC foils.
